    Hi guys,

I've been looking for a job since the start of January. So far I've had 3 interviews. One was terrible ( interviewer was awful) 2nd one went brilliant ( so I thought but it was a week and a half ago and still haven't heard anything) and another one was this evening ( went okish but still not 150% confident I got it! Will know by Friday I think)

I am super stressed, I've a good academic background with strong work experience

I'm losing the will to keep applying:( anyone have any advise? Something surely has to come up?

    Thanks

Officially in the same boat meself now :/
the fact your getting interviews within a short space of time is a good sign
just practice more on your interview skills
and don't be afraid to ring the company up who you interviewed for if you feel alot of time has passed without any phone call , they will tell you whats going on

I myself have not got much experience and I'd be lucky to get 3 interviews in the space of 6 months never mind a month :L
    keep looking theirs jobs everywere
only problem is theirs alot of competition as well

That's the thing! There is so much competition! I have an interview Thursday that I am not mad about, but am only going after today was so awwwwwful.

The interview Thursday is for a job that only 1 posting is available and like 30 people are going for it. Absolute nightmare.

It's actually exhausting looking for work, you have to apply, if your lucky get called for an interview, then study the company and cv and those tricky questions, then get dressed up smart and face the fear of being judged :/

I wish I could just trow in the towel!:(

Hope you get something soon too!! What's your background?

Well with all them interviews , your cv must be very impressive :) I've no doubth you'll get a job sooner then you think :D

unfortunatly for me my situation and my background are not so impressive haha
Finished school 3 years ago (in the middle of the bloody recession)
can't afford college, so done fas courses, done ecdl and autocad 2d+3d ( All 3 courses, the jobs I looked for that require them also require YEARS EXPERIENCES )
family overall has no income to help support me in college until I get a job

So basicly I have just about 1 years experience working retail, that 1 years experience is between 2 different jobs, so say 5months customer experience, 7months stock room experience using voice control putaway.

So companys arn't exactly throwing themselfs at me haha but I don't aim high
I'd shovel ****e to be honest.... even that takes experience cause farmers won't higher me :pac:

How can anyone who finished school, goes to college , get a job if they all require 5 years experience for minimum wage, countrys a joke

    best of luck OP!!

Are you actually serious? I've been applying for jobs for a solid 7 months and have only been called for three interviews. You should be glad you're getting called.

Besides that I don't know what to say, except if you don't apply you can't get a job. It is tiring and almost degrading, but well nothing you can do

Hey guys, i don't mean to be dramatic but I suppose I am used to having a job since I was a teenager and I did very well in college and have good experience:) I'm just saying after 3 interviews you would think I would get one ' yes!'

I'm actually really good at interviews just like mad2mad said compeition is fierce!

I am just not used to not working so it's kind of overwhelming! I hope everyone has luck getting a job, I suppose I will keep trying:)

If I ever get a job I will let ye know!:)

2 years (but too be honest I'm not sure if fas counts as been on the dole because I'm not claiming) so in that case roughly 9-10 months collecting , the other 12+months in fas

I know the feeling after finishing my temp contract before Christmas. little experience doesn't help. But funny periods can happen. I had 3 interviews in a 10 day period back in September. Sometimes you can be lucky. So fair play OP

I know the feeling OP but you've really only been looking less than a month..something will come up!

I finished my masters in September and spent a solid four months applying for countless jobs only to get one interview which i was unsuccessful in! My dole was rejected coz i had moved back with my retired parents who apparently had more than enough money to look after their 24yr old daughter! Recently got a job in a call centre which will tide me over for a few months before I move to the UK - better prospects and i'm generally sick **** of this country anyway!

Anyway sorry for going off on a tangent but stick with it, apply for everything! Get the email addresses of HR managers and send your CV directly to them as well as applying for stuff on websites like jobs.ie. Basically be tenacious! Your luck will turn :)

BTEA the way to go if you can't find work...keep getting dole while in a full time PLC FETAC course, and you can get into an I.T or university after that and still keep getting the payment..

It really helped me, I moved into a city, started my course and am now in my second year (level 6 FETAC) and have applied for an undergrad course next year.

And, if you can find part time work to fit in around college, it doesn't affect payment. Goes straight into your bank too....no signing on.

Not really much work going in the country, and even less for the unskilled. So for me, getting a good third level education was the only way I could see to progress. And BTEA made that possible.

    Hope this helps.

View your job hunting like a part-time job.

You arrive at "work" every day at 7 PM (or whatever) and have to search for jobs and tailor your CV & cover letter for two hours. When you finish at 9 PM you can put your feet up.

This is good advice but why not take it a step further!

Imagine you are a product in a long line of products, what makes you stand out from the rest. With job hunting you have many challenges but two key challenges are what makes your application (Not just CV) and then your interview stand out.

I see many hundreds of CV's (I am based now in Poland btw) but very few stand out and actually a huge percentage are people simply applying for a position that just doesn't fit their experience or talents, just because its a job and they need one.

When you find a job that you think fits you, forget the CV, for sure you should send but do not rely on it, as no question somebody will have a better one. Make sure you always send a cover note. Do some research on the company and then tell them why you fit.

If you don't fit or don't have enough experience and would like to learn, tell them you will come to them and spend a day, week or a month to show them why you are the best person for the job. If nothing else this gives you experience for the next similar position.

I am just saying be different and give them reasons other than your CV why you feel you can help their business.Nothing worse than a simple lazy CV.

Also something that's very common in Poland is to stick a Photo of your self on your CV this adds a personal feel. Its no good telling people you are a hard worker if your application is lazy and not well thought out.

That's my experience, hope it helps. I worked for free for 2 weeks when I first came to Poland and after 14 months I was a VP of the business. It helped that I did have huge experience in this area, but I came off my high horse and got stuck in and it worked.

Best of luck guys, failing that you should all move to Poland, the women are better the money is great now in big cities and the people are fantastic...must love snowboarding and snow, lots of it!

    First post! :)

Anyway, I know how you feel mate. I've been back since the end of November, but I have only had one interview so far. I have another on Monday, so hopefully that will go well. Getting rejection after rejection for positions I know I would be perfect for is very disheartening too but we just have to keep the chin up.

    Hope all goes well.

I understand Op its disheartening but you done very well to get three interviews in a space of a month I be lucky to get that much in a couple of months or over the space of a year. I probably have had about three times as much interviews as you in the space of three years say but that include the combination of telephone and face to face interviews.

If employers see potential in you and in your CV then they will likely offer you an interview but saying that you could do a very good interview and still not get the job there will always be something a miss but usually its down to competition its just got so competitive even if you offer your services for free you could still be months searching and jobbridge have tightened up on who they hire that is from my experience but saying that jobbridge has got ridiculous on what jobs they are offering. Its often come to a point I don't even hear back from employers offering jobbridge positions due to what ever reason or I end up having to chase them to arrange an interview and nothing happens. I've had one interview through that scheme the rest were all paid, contract or permanent jobs or grad programmes.

Have you tried LinkedIn its a very handy tool to have while job hunting there is a lot to be said by being head hunted but sometimes those roles offered or those by recruiters tend to go for jobs not suitable they often don't half read the CV or online profile, you send an updated CV and they have a way of copping out then not to pursue you as a potential candidate. Its annoying. Between range of criteria by ticking boxes and matching requirements to job spec and competency/technical type interviews, interviews are just getting harder as you are being marked based on your examples, in put and your CV or online application. I say once since I've last had a job was I asked about CV all the other occasions was based on what ever was on the online application form and their own questions relevant to the role they were offering.

Best of luck in your search, I say you get a job soon enough keep applying and go to each interview you think you suited to a role. Have good examples too. I say everyone has good and bad interviews. Hope you get good news soon! Keep trying all you can do is do your best!
