    Hi

Looking to trade in a 2005 Peugeot 307 for the best price I can get. On cbg.ie the current avg of 28 cars is 4465

wondering if anyone would have an idea what I should hold out for - looking at buying a 132 car (ex demo model I think!)

the car had 145km on it

    cheers

    :):)

I'm afraid you will not get anywhere near €4500 for a 9 year old 307. I'd say €2500 to €2800 tops is more like it depending on condition imo. It will also depend on what new car you are trading it in for and how much the dealer thinks he can sell it on for.

I don't think you have any chance of getting anywhere near 4k for the 307 im afraid, especially not in a trade in.

I bet those cbg prices were dealer prices.

All cbg does is take the average price of similar models advertised with them. So if half them are overpriced then it just calculates the average price of those including the overpriced ones. It's not a real reflection of their value.

Also when trading up the important figure to concentrate on is the how much the dealer wants with your old car rather than the trade-in allowance. Giving you an over generous trade-in price could mean the dealer is just adding the difference back onto the price of the newer car but the deal looks more attractive .

    2000 Focus - 3850
    2004 206 - 3583
    1998 Micra - 1950 :D

Yeeeeaa...you can almost half what it suggests for a more realistic price.

:) I know that is just the avg and includes the overpriced ones. I was just looking for a realistic price that I could hold out for.

So 2500 to 3000 would be a more realistic amount which is what I was thinking and hoping for.

Cheers for all the helpful and not so helpful posts. :D:D:D
