Hiya, just wondering what is the traffic like on the Tuam road for commuting for work?

Say if you're living in Galway city and would be working regular office hours.

Galway to Tuam will be alright. The general flow of traffic is Tuam to Galway.

I left my house in Tuam at 5.25 pm this evening to go to Claregalway and I was parked up at 5.45.

If you are commuting from Galway City to Tuam allow an extra 30 mins from the time you leave the city.
Much longer if you are going from tuam to Galway...the tailbacks heading towards the city can be pretty bad..especially on the tuam road from two mile ditch and coming in to Claregalway too.

I'm from the city but I work & live in North Galway now. A lot of my colleagues live in Galway City and they find the commute very doable. You mention regular working hours but a lot of work places are quite flexible - if you can start work at 8/8.30 it would be quieter than starting at 9am as you'd be meeting the school traffic at that time. It also depends on which side of Galway city you live - if you have to cross the city (cross the Corrib) then that will delay you also. So there are variables but generally speaking as others have said you'd be going against the traffic so it should be manageable in 30-35mins.
