You could look at pcspecialist or overclockers as alternatives to dell, just to compare prices. I would look at a slightly better graphics card, or drop it altogether, as it is not that much better than the onboard graphics on the cpu.

Its hard to know as you would think the selection from dell would be ok for games. I think i am afraid to move away from dell. I bought a laptop of them 6 years ago and its still going strong. So what you're saying is there is no way of me getting a pc to play some light gaming unless i buy a custom one. Thats the vibe i am getting from everyone anyway :)

    Thanks

Yep basically, unless you want to get ripped off by alienware. Dell Completely rip people off. Most people on boards use hardwareversand and they pit the PC together for you for 20 euro. Have a look at Pc building and upgrading forum.

The PC should be fine for your use, if you could configure it without the graphics card and save some money that way, the integrated graphics on the CPU arent too bad. Adding a graphics card down the line is very easy if you want a better one. What resolution is your monitor?

There are some people on here who think building yourself the only way to go and recommend it because it is so much "cheaper". That fine for some people who are interested in the components and more importantly can competently/confidently troubleshoot a build. For others they would put a lot of value on the following

1 yr Next Day In-Home Service with Premium Phone Support

Hardwareversand arent going to do that for you (it simply isnt available) and i wouldnt recommend their build service by the amount of people who have had problems when their pc has been delivered.

Yep that sounds a lot saver alright i think i am going to sleep on it tonight and prob go for the dell not ordering until friday anyway. Maybe then if i become interested in pc components build a pic for like 500 so if things go wrong ill not feel as bad. I did post on the building and upgrading forum before. Its hard to choose because everyone has different opinions on a build so i just get fed up :D

    Cheers

It is usually a loose connection which any person good fix. Looking at a youtube video as well shows you how to put it together. If something does go wrong there is always help on forums and hardwareversand are always good for taking back parts! You might have to wait an extra week compared to overpriced dell though with terrible parts!

But, OverclockersUK will. They'll build it for free and give better support. You'd get more choice in what goes into it and also the parts they put in won't be proprietary like Dell's. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/productlist.php?groupid=43&catid=2473

It is hardly comparison to next day on site support. Depending on what your time is worth to you as well, my charge out rate varies from €55 to ~£70 sterling, so if i spend two hours troubleshooting a build i need for work, i would have earned the difference in cost between hardwareversand and dell.

Personally i build my own, as i am fussy abut the detail, but dell has a lot to offer those who dont, cant spend the time learning about it.

I recommended overclockers in my first post as an alternative. They provide on-site next day support?
