Just noticed fire engine and ambulance in Citywest at the roundabout at the flyover.

The ambulance lights were on when it drove off so fingers crossed.

Terrible news, RIP to the cyclist and condolences to his family. I cycle over the city west fly over daily and have had my fair share of close calls. Cars just won't give way to bikes on roundabouts no matter what lights / hi-vis you've got.

Terrible tragedy, I cycled through citywest for 7 years and a few near misses, it's a nightmare for cyclists it's like a race track at each roundabout for motorists.

I work in Citywest and heard about this last night. I hope that this leads to safer junctions for all but it's sad that someone has lost their life.

RIP. My condolences to his family and friends.

I cycle the Naas Road everyday on my commute, sometimes via Citywest. It can be crazy out there, people rushing to get home, etc.

Yeah that's the one. I used to cycle through this one on my morning commute and gave up due to so many close calls. One less roundabout to contend with. I take a short cut down towards the entrance to the park now that's much safer.

There's a photo of the accident scene on today's online Independent - I don't want to post it out of respect for the cyclist's family. But it looks like he was hit by a car coming from the right when he was going straight through the roundabout.

We've had to delete several posts because people have begun making comments that imply reason/fault. That's for the authorities to determine.

Can we limit our contributions to condolences only please.
