I've a 05 ford Mondeo and the when i accelerate the car shakes like mad and when i change gears there is a clunking noise.

when i press the clutch it sounds and feels fine. this became very noticeable very quickly it wasn't a gradual thing.

    any ideas?

Does it happen when you are stopped?

Did you have a quick check that your wheels are tight and engine mounts are OK?

I assume it is a diesel?

    nope when stopped its fine

i checked the wheels there fine. when stopped and engine is running the car is smooth.

when travelling at 100km/hr and clutch is held there's no issues either

ya its a diesel 2.0 TDCI

When stopped and you increase the revs, does it vibrate significantly at any point?

There is also a mount underneath which it may be:

Then IMO it's unlikely to be the DMF, but some other part of the transmission.

Here is the lower mount on a ST, these are known to shred the rubber:

Its probably not the dmf when its fine while not moving. I'd be checking the carrier bearing on the right hand side drive shaft.

Ok it turned out to be the inner drive shaft. Would that be expensive with labour?

I'd say around €150 for parts, and same again for labour.

150 for an inner cv joint?

You may want a full driveshaft. On a TD, I generally would recommend swapping the whole thing. you can forget about it for another few years then.

I'm not sure on this car, but you couldn't get an inner CV joint for older models.

And I'm assuming indy, not main dealer too.
