Hi, im looking for advice on clothes to wear on a day to day basis. Im a 25 year old average build male and my dress sense is pretty awfull. Most days I would just throw on a pair of jeans or tracksuit bottoms, a t-shirt or hoodie.

I feel like im still dressing like a teenager. I would like to dress more smartly and make it look like I put in some sort of an effort. Any ideas would be great thanks.

Go in to somewhere like Jack and Jones and have a look at the mannequins and basically copy the look. Similarly, if you have a bit of money go into BT's and just copy a look. Nothing wrong with t-shirts and hoodies, they can be cool if worn right.

Jeans look smart if they fit properly and aren't ripped at the bottom. I agree with Galwaygirlee that there's nothing wrong with t-shirts and hoodies, if they are the right size and fit you properly. I have a pet hate of clothes that are too big on guys. Also I think short sleeve shirts can look very smart/casual if you're looking for that in-between to t-shirts and shirts.

I went through the same transition a few years ago. It can feel awkward changing the way you dress. I'd suggest doing it gradually. Keep wearing jeans, just wear slimmer fitting ones in a darker colour. Instead of trainers, try desert boots. Instead of tshirts, try polo shirts.

Brands like HE by Mango are good for casual clothes. Check out the look books on their website. GAP is quite good for casual shirts and jumpers. There's nothing outlandish there so it's a decent place to start when upgrading your closet.

Nailing the fit is the most important thing. You don't want clothes drooping off you. When shopping for polo shirts, shirts and sweaters, keep sizing down until it feels restrictive. Then go up one size and you'll have the right fit.
