Mortgage interest relief

Hi looking for some help, my interest relief went from €250 to €75 as we reached year 6 of our mortgage. I rang revenue to check why this had happened and I found out I was not named for interest relief but my partner was. They told me we would be due a refund if I registered but I am a little worried as my partner was a first time buyer but I am a second time buyer. What I would like to know is would there be any scenario that would mean we could owe money to revenue?

I spoke to a guy in the financial game and he said no but the figure that we are due would be less, is this correct.

    Thanks in advance.
