I'm thinking about replacing the boot lid on my Ford Mondeo. Does anyone know how straightforward or otherwise this is? I'm a complete novice here so any help or suggestions is much appreciated!

Usually straightforward enough. It's better if you have someone to help hold/carry it.
It can be a bit awkward with the electrics.

    Is it hatch or saloon?

Saloon. There are no lights on the boot lid so as far as I can tell the only wiring will come from the lock mechanism...

Ok, so the 3rd brake light is in rear window?

The wiring will be for lock and reg plate lights.
    It should be pretty easy.

Disconnect battery so you don't set off any warnings when messing about with the wires.
    Remove boot linings.
Remove plate lights and unscrew bulb fittings.
Unscrew lock and disconnect it from wiring harness.
Gently pry away the rubber from boot lid (that holds wires coming from car).
    Pull wires out from lid.
    Unbolt struts to lid.
    Remove lid.

    Assemble in reverse order.
    Connect battery.
    Get radio code.

    Thanks, biko.

Yes, the third brake light is in the rear window.

Please pardon my ignorance, but how would I go about getting the radio code?

    Ask in this thread

It'll tell you how to find the serial etc (it's on the radio itself).
