    hi guys

I'm building a new EPOS system from old pc's for the family business we all know that a new system can cost up to and over 2500 euros so im cutting corners my father insists i use a touch screen monitor that has VGA and 12v power usb connector but he has me dealing with a dell inspiron 2400 and has no power usb port was looking for a pci card to fit and its around 300$ and cant seem to find any other adaptors so my question is is there a adaptor for this that plugs into a wall and turns it into a normal usb ?? if so where can i find one or what other solutions do i have ???

Is it something like this you need? (I have honestly never seen such a connection before bar in your attached pics, but "12V poweredUSB" seems to be the most common name for it)

You mean height rather than length because there is should be only one one length for all PCI slots.

I didn't notice that it was low profile :o, but it should work just fine except it won't be as stable as a full height PCI slot unless you could come up with some way to secure it better (it would be much easier to dislodge accidently as is). Unfortunately such a generic adapter doesn't seem to exist that I can see but some sort of DIY job might just do the trick.

Have you a link to the $300 dollar one? Would like to see it as I am not sure we are on the exact same page, or else I am perhaps I am misundestanding something.

From what I can gather the card above should work fine in the dell, what I was trying to say is that the only problem with the height would be the risk of it coming loose again after installation (which you could perhaps mitigate by putting the machine on it side if space permits), or coming up with some other DIY way of securing it to the chassis.

    Heres the pinout

Its just a normal standard usb socket - and a separate second socket for supplying 12v out of the pc....
