In an article in the Sunday Times today it says RTÉ are seeking €500,000 for exclusive sponsorship across TV, radio and digital platforms for this year's World Cup coverage.

A further €150,000 sponsorship is sought for Apres Match.

Under FIFA World Cup rules, FIFA main sponsors have first option to do local deals with broadcasters. None have signed up so it's been opened to the general market.

Report in one of today's Sunday newspapers that Hyundai are to be main sponsor for RTÉ's World Cup coverage, it doesn't include the Apres Match sponsorship.

They decided to sponsor the coverage following the increase in sales of the Hyundai brand here.

    sure it makes sense.

If they only sell a few dozen extra cars they'll have broke even

    If advertising didn't work...

Generally this means the break will be bookended by Hyundai adds. They seem to be up and coming.

Similar to Champions League coverage being bookended by Gazprom ads (used to be Ford). This has been normal practice in television for years.
