I was reading a piece in todays sunday independent about a company in monaghan who have designed a new compressed air heating system which is 20 times cheaper than oil ,gas etc, it can be used in houses that already built. Approx 7000 euro for an average house. they have won awards ,the called Eurotech heating. I would be interested if anyone knows anything about it. Thanks

Sounds too good to be true. Article was light on specifics, no product names mentioned and no details of this new heating system on the company website. If anyone finds any further info on this, could they post it here? Am in the market for this at the moment.

The whole world would be in the market for something 20 times cheaper than oil.
Perhaps it works by spending tens of thousands making your house passive first.
You would think that something that good would be plastered all over their website.

btw Do you have the name of the reporter that wrote this article. I would be interested in pinning this down a bit better. I would like to get information on from the reporter as to whether he/she investigated this thoroughly.

The devil is in the detail. It sounds like an air to water heat pump but that would not run at €0.05 per hour to heat a church.

They also post absolutely no detail of this system on their website, only info on standard heat pumps.

Thanks. I'll drop off an email to him and the editor.
They need to back up their story or accept that their standards have dropped. Might as well be reading the Beano if they don't investigate their stories accurately.

Some company trying to advertise their heat pumps & letting on they have designed the technology by the looks of it as they have them on their web site products page.

I sent an email to the Indo asking if the reporter verified those claims made by Eurotech. I would be very disappointed in the paper if they just printed those figures without verification.

They do have some impressive customers though. That in itself will swing some people, without checking out the system properly.

I wouldn't knock them until it their claim was proven incorrect either. It's always best to have both sides of the storey before ploughing in.

Saying that, 20 times cheaper than oil & gas is some fete, especially if marked against natural gas which is 25% cheaper than oil anyhow.

I did choose my words carefully and would not knock them down, but remain sceptical (so what's new :)). They do have impressive customers. Time will tell.

    In the mean time.....Caveat emptor.

if it was 20 times cheaper surely the worlds energy supply problems, global warming and our recession would be solved in one fell swoop?

Natural gas is 6.6 cent per kwh so that would offer a running cost of 0.33 cent per kwh. Where do I order one?

Oil and gas companies pull the strings when it comes to the worlds energy needs by making sure they keep powerful and vested interests happy. There has been cheaper solutions to heating our homes for years but unfortunately the majority of the worlds population hasn't realised that yet.....

Requested a quote for one of these heating systems from Eurotech. The quote came back for €30K. €7K was advertised as the cost of equipment for a typical house - My house must not be average!
The quote was for a Oschner Air 2 Water Heat Pump, UFH, Controls, Plant Room Hydraulics
I cannot see what part of the system Eurotech are claiming to have invented.
Sounds like they spun a good story and the Indo bought it without checking any facts.

Absolutely, well I came up with the idea of air to water heat pumps whilst fixing a puncture on my daughters bicycle,

    What a chancer!

How can a paper publish a figure like 2o times cheaper than oil and gas without thinking about it, not to mind checking it. if it was 20 times cheaper it surely would revolutionise how the entire world used heat and energy.

I often hear the argument that big company's are hiding cheaper alternatives. Never backed up with anything substantive. its usually followed by the name Nikola Telsa.
