Anyone have any thoughts on the real life value of a turbo session, i.e. is one hour on turbo equivalent to one hour on the road or more, defo feels like more anyway. I do mean tough turbo session, not just spinning on low resistance

Physical exertion aside, the damage to the mind is unquantifiable.

No freewheeling or drafting on a turbo. It's definitely "premium" time compared to the road, particularly with properly structured sessions. I'll typically consider 60 mins on the turbo to be worth 90 or so on the road

Today I discovered that standing starts are useless on a turbo. The resistance is just not enough, much much harder to do standing starts on the road. Steady intervals on the other hand feel much harder on the turbo and z2 base sessions are mind numbing on it.

I've only ever done 60 mins sessions (+/- 10 mins) on the turbo doing threshold intervals. Can't be arsed doing any longer. Steady state stuff would bore the pants off me. The threshold stuff hurts and makes you really good at counting seconds.
