Leaving an ACA Training Contract

I am 1 year in to a training contract with a small firm, but wish to leave on many issues. One of these is that I am no longer training under a qualified ACA manager. I feel this may be in breach of training. I also fear for my long term career prospects after my contract is up.

I have already had an interview with another firm cancelled due to me being in contract. Their line was that they wouldn't consider anybody who was currently in contract. I had gotten the interview in less than a week after applying for the role so I don't think that there was any other reason for them cancelling.

I passed my CAP2's in one sitting and done well in my Post Grad Diploma in Accounting so I don't think results were an issue with them.

I am hoping to move to a larger firm but haven't seen many opportunities advertised. I don't really want to move to a small firm again as I feel it would be a step back or even inhibit my prospects long term.

Any suggestions as to what I should do. I am also considering leaving in 3 - 5 months and start studying for my FAE's early as I would have my 15 months experience.
