A4 Tdi-Actual rate of DMF Failure?

Have an 08 Audi A4 B8 143 SE with 90k miles on the clock-no problems to date. Am getting to stage of deciding to keep or change in the summer, doing some sums. I do 60 miles per day, mainly national roads, so not too worried about DPF.
However there appears to be a very high rate of DMF failure at c.100k miles. Is this true? does anyone know the rate-or do we just hear the horror stories? The €989 replacement would certainly influence my calculations.
    Thanks in advance

Its considered a consumable really. Over the life of the car, assuming it has a reasonable life span, I would say the eventual failure rate is over 80%.

Depends on how it was driven to some extent but in most cases they do seem to go from 70,000 to 130,000 miles.

Between myself, friends and family I have seen them go at 90,95, 119, 120, 100, 88 and yet to go at 90,000 miles in my current mondeo.

The above is in Mondeos (2),A4s (2), an Avensis and a Freelander in that order.

What's your driving style like? Increased risk to the dmf can be caused by driving around at low revs and labouring the engine. Accelerating hard from low revs. Lots of town driving constantly engaging the clutch. Sitting with the clutch engaged at lights. As everyone is different the same car with two different drivers would have different fail points.

If it went tomorrow and you got another 100k miles out of it the repair cost could be seen to be acceptable.

Btw my brother had an A6 with full service history with 80k miles when he bought it and 150k miles on the clock when he sold it. No dmf replacement in the.service history. But maybe it didn't have one. It was a 2006 so I presume it had.

My A4 had a DMF failure at 165,000 miles, and that's with an engine with an increased torque output.
