Hi everyone. My wife has been receiving malicious txt messages and nuisance phone calls from about 8 diff 087 numbers (def an Irish number no prefix or anything) all starting with same four numbers 2 as late as 4/5 am! The text are not personal or anything to do with my wife and I but they are sometimes horrible and threatening & sometimes just don't make sense. She has been to the guards but they said all they can do is ring them and tell them to stop or send the phone away which could take weeks. She didn't want to ring as she doesn't want to draw the ejits on her.

I am wondering has anyone heard of anything similar they/he left one voice message also saying he got a missed call and saying to ring him back. Various text to numerous to mention but one said Irish phone in Afghanistan.

If anyone has any advice please let me know or if you have heard of something similar?

    Thank you

Put the phone on silent overnight for a start. Then change her number.

If she's on android, there are apps to block calls and texts, very simple to use, install and run, bring up the number you want to block, add it to block list.

You may not even have to go that far, lots of Android phones have inbuilt blocking mechanisms: http://www.androidauthority.com/how-to-block-phone-calls-numbers-android-phone-246484/

I'll call in a Vodafone shop ( I know is 087 ...any network these days) and explain and show them the issue.
As that comes from a 087 number they should have full or partial access to the owner details...
Take down the staff name and follow-up over the next few days !

A case of mistaken identity perhaps either way rude people deserve to have their numbers blocked, settings>call>call rejection>black list>+(add number),

There is no reason to send the phone away. All the garda needs is a formal complaint of harassment and he/she can request phone records for the offending numbers. There is no need to take the victim's phone.
