Storck or Thompson Bike

Just want opinions on which bike to pick. Not really looking at other brands. After checking with local bike shops I am informed that most brands are not making XXL/61cm frames available at the moment. Not sure why this is. After trawling through the net these seem to be only two brands that have XXL frame available at the minute. I am 6ft 5ins so need that size frame. Will be spending around €3000 on full bike.Any advice or help would be great.
    Thanks.

I have a Thompson as a winter bike and have no complaints with it. I'm thinking of buying a canyon to race this year I'm pretty sure they do XXL frames

Just wondering why Thompson is only a winter bike and not your racing bike. I want a bike that would be great all year.

storck make great bikes...but they are possibly one of the lightest too..
not talking them down but if you are 6ft5 im sure your a big guy too...
strength of carbon could be an important factor too.
have seen quiet a few thompsons and they look beefy enough to me...Belgian too so generally they make them tough ..

Because its an aluminum frame with tiagra that I use to go to work that's why I'm looking at getting a carbon framed canyon with Ultegra so race on

Cheers. I am around 100kg so definitely needs to be a strong bike. Has to be carbon also. Just a preference more that anything else.

I like the look of the Thompson Force and the Storck Scenero G2. They just look like strong bikes. Also I like the aero look.

Never thought of Canyon bikes before this. Had a quick look at their website and looks impressive.

Not sure about buying online as the Storck and Thompson brands are available through my LBS.

What are Canyon like to deal with if I had any problems. I still like the idea of walking into my LBS and getting sorted over trying to post frame or whatever back to a company to fix.

Maybe I am just wrong in thinking like that

Ridley's tend to measure one size up, so it should be possible for you to fit an XL (the largest frame they make) if you have moderate flexibility. Great bikes - you can have a bit of fund customising your bike here.. http://www.ridley-bikes.com/ie/en/customizer

A few years ago people had problems with orders taking ages, expectations not met and so on.

Now they give a proper indication before you order of which calendar week (CW) you will get your bike, and service is improved.

There are a few odd issues like the odd steerer diameter which makes alternative stem choices a bit limited, and the forks which are no longer available separately (so if you smash the forks it's new frameset time).

That said, I have a Canyon (Ultimate AL) and it's great, and I know loads of others with similarly positive experiences. They totally do what they say on the tin.

Servicing isn't an issue unless you have a particularly snotty LBS.

They'd be my first choice if I needed a massive bike and/or was on a budget.

The Storck Scenero G2. They just look like strong bikes.

I think they said it was fine up to 115kg when I bought mine (a G1) and I was racing it at 110kg last year so there's no problem there - I'm 6 ft 4" and have 59cm and a 57cm Storck TT bike,

I like the Thompsons too and Staggs in Lucan have a lot of them on display

Been measured in two LBS.Both shops do different brands and both still came up with a 61 frame for my needs. So can't argue with them. Both guys have been in cycling for what seems forever. So depending on manufacturer that's a XL or XXL. Doesn't really matter which one at the minute as lots of manufacturers don't have that size in stock. All tell you they make them until you actually want to buy one then it's not in stock.

They don't have in stock. Distributors not sure when it maybe in stock. It's the same thing with most other brands. Sounds like one a few 61 or 63 frames are made at start of the year. Not a popular size. If I needed a 57 or 59 frame then I could have any brand or any bike I want.

Not just your size if lbs or distributor doesn't have in stock then they go on order, left it late to order my m/L so will be waiting till week 11 . When LBS orders with Giant ( which they can cancel at any time with no financial loss) on line they get delivery date straight away. I can check with my LBS out of interest for you on Tuesday ..

    Type in " canyon outlet"
I bought a xl which is a 60. But they have xxl and xxxl and In stock. I had a budget of 1700 and picked up a nice bike in my book. It was an older frame so got it cheaper in the outlet store. It's just worth having a look.

How do you like the Canyon. Were you waiting long for it ?

I only ordered it on Saturday. My friend has one and thinks his bike is great, and I was doing a lot of reading up on them. And they get a lot of good reviews. When they started out first they had not a great rep for delivery times. But since have improved. So I hope to have mine sometime next week.

I went for this https://www.canyon.com/_en/outlet/article.html?o=A1025748 i hope my measurements all work out. I did not go with carbon but I'm not a racer. Still it's weight only 7.55kg and has di2.
