Recently ordered from hwvs and was wondering if I have to manually transfer the money into their account. I tried to earlier on but boi's 365 is acting the B***** and got fed up with it. If I brought their details into my local boi would i be able to transfer the money there?

I tried to do this in my local bank a few weeks back, after phoning Banking 365 and asking if it was possible, and was told it was. Went in and asked at customer service, and the woman was reluctant to help me till I told her that phone support said I could. She got me the form, I filled it out, went up to the counter and the woman refused to process it for me, saying that transfers were only doable for over €3000, despite what everyone else up to this point had told me.
Just as a heads up OP, maybe you'll have better luck in your local branch, but I was quite annoyed at the way it was handled.

Yeah going up to my local boi today to get it sorted. How long after the money was transferred did it take to deliver the build?

Couldn't tell you myself, after the BOI debacle, and HWVS not getting back to me on PayPal options, I cancelled my order and bought from Dabs instead!

Would you not object if people could just dip into your bank account and take your money?

If you are thinking of direct debit, this needs a signed mandate.

Amazon and Dabs do it and nobody seems to mind. I'm talking about simplicity as its a pain in the hole to do it this way

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,157 ✭✭✭srsly78

That's payment by debit card, not just dipping into your account. The card provider takes a cut.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 175 ✭✭TheFlidKid

not asking them to dip into my account I'm just wondering as to why they dont have the same system as amazon or dabs do

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,157 ✭✭✭srsly78

Because Germans don't like cards for some reason. Not having to pay for card services lets them keep costs down.

    Suppose that makes sense

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 921 ✭✭✭delta36

Yeah, same as for PayPal. PayPal normally charge about 3% to the seller for transactions. If you want to do that to pay HWVS (assuming they tell you how :P ), HWVS add an extra 3% on to your bill.

Apparently, paying by bank transfer is much more normal in mainland Europe. OP, I've seen other people say that having online banking was the handiest way for them to pay, but that will take a few days for you to set up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 175 ✭✭TheFlidKid

yeah the online thing is easy its just i want it as soon as possible

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 175 ✭✭TheFlidKid

So what do I ask for when i go into the bank today?

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 9,689 Mod ✭✭✭✭stevenmu

"International bank transfer" should cover it. You'll need the IBAN and BIK codes from the email hwvs should have sent you, and I think the code they call "Purpose" needs to be used in the reference for the transfer.

I'm not sure if you need to include your specific order number as well.

    Thanks a million man

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 175 ✭✭TheFlidKid

    Is it a form yeah?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,265 ✭✭✭..Brian..

    Dude, log into 365online.

select money transfer from left hand side

select SEPA transfer, second on list

    select your account

add a payee and receive security code by text

Under payee details enter in HardwareVersand as the name, then their BIC and IBAN and use your order number as a reference.

Select continue and enter security code sent by text.

The payee is now set up.

Go back into Money Transfer -> SEPA payment.

Chose your account, select payee as HWVD. Enter payment amount. Your order number should already be the reference number. Hit continue and enter in 3 digits of your login code and job done. Takes about 2 minutes in total and it's done.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 175 ✭✭TheFlidKid

I have to wait for them to send out a code via post to even set up the whole payee thing. i just want it done

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,265 ✭✭✭..Brian..

You can get the security code sent straight to your mobile phone, I only did it on Tuesday including setting up a new Payee. The text was sent to my phone in about 30 seconds.

    :EDIT: see point 4

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,265 ✭✭✭..Brian..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 175 ✭✭TheFlidKid

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,265 ✭✭✭..Brian..

Yep you need to confirm your mobile number via post. After that it's easy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 175 ✭✭TheFlidKid

Yeah thought it could be done in the bank but any transfer under 3000 gets a near 50 quid charge added so im gonna have to wait for the code to come in the post

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 9,689 Mod ✭✭✭✭stevenmu

That's pretty bad. Do BoI have any of those self service machines in the branches? I did a transfer to hwvs on friday with on of the AIB ones, and it was quick, easy and free.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,157 ✭✭✭srsly78

It's quick, easy and free online. They want to encourage people to use the very simple online facility, but many of them have not set it up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 175 ✭✭TheFlidKid

Didn't look for one today to be honest (never thought of it!) they didnt tell me about one either

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,265 ✭✭✭..Brian..

€50 to process it in the branch?! What a load of bollix! I get the push to use self service, be it in branch or online at home, but this is ridiculous.

The only consolation FlidKid is you only have to set it up like this one. Anytime in the future you will have it done in a matter of minutes online.

Feel your pain, I was in the exact same situation as you a few weeks back. I ended up setting up online banking anyway, and my code came in about 3 days, so if nothing else, you can set up online banking, and add HWVS to your transfer list over the phone, then when you get the pins, log in online and transfer it.

Not really sure how long HWVS will wait before cancelling your order, but it may be worth your while dropping them an email.

said that if they dont hear anything within 2 weeks the'll cancel the order

Your bank is just trying to rip you off, EU to EU standard bank transfer is free (it must be charged at the national rate which is free in Ireland). European Commission regulation (EC) No 924/2009 deems it illegal to charge the sender more than the cost of national money transfers - http://ec.europa.eu/internal_market/payments/docs/reg-924_2009/faq-924-2009_en.pdf

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 175 ✭✭TheFlidKid

I wouldn't know enough about that to go into the bank and kick up a fuss, just gonna leave it till i can do it online

They charge the same for national transfers :)

What do I use as the reference when setting up a payee on 365 online?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 921 ✭✭✭delta36

    bassey wrote: »

I think the reference is who they see the money come from, so as far as I'm aware, that's where you should put the "intended purpose" code you got from HWVS.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 936 ✭✭✭bassey

Yeah I tried that but the hyphen doesn't let it go through, says it has to be alpha numeric, so I stuck in the order number

Mightn't hurt to send them an email letting them know you put in the order number as the reference number, just in case it slows things down.

yeah i think its the 16 digit code separated in the middle by a hyphen

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 175 ✭✭TheFlidKid

take the hyphen out and it works
