    Hey guys,

i was checking oil levels etc. on my 00 skoda fabia

and i noticed a cable hanging from the oil pressure switch.
the cable connectd to the switch has servered

any ideas how i would go about fixing this?

i removed the pressure switch connector but it looks sealed.

pic of the oil pressure switch attacted (not from my car found on the net)

What sort of connector is on the end of the wire and is it severed right at the connector?

If it is, it's just a matter of getting a new spade and crimping it on the wire.

If it's further along the wire, then you'll have to join it and put some heatshrink on it.

That picture doesn't tell me a lot BTW.

You could cut off the narrow bit of the connector carefully ( cut around carefully with junior hacksaw) - don't cut the wire inside .
Then you should have enough wire coming out of the connector to solder the broken wire onto - or failing that you could use one of the strip connectors where you put a bared wire into either end (with plastic removed if necessary) to make the join .

Why not buy a new switch, cannot be that expensive

If you wash it a bit ( remove the red/orange seal first ) and look where the two red arrows are in the attached pic you might see how the metal part is held in to the plastic part

You'll probably need something like a paperclip, straighten it out and flatten it a bit with a hammer

nothing is wrong with the switch its the wire that off the connecter which connects to the switch that has broken.

i can find the switch easily online but cant find the connector.

i have taken dooroys idea and cut the section around the connector to reveal the wire.

but its still very short i have it twisted together for the moment which has stopped the dash light from coming on (yippee)

i need to get a solder to apply a more permanent solution

    thanks guys
