I just moved into a new house on Friday got my upc stuff delivered and of course the house has been disconnected. It wired up for 120m broadband and HD TV but its"turned off" outside they say and can't get an engineer out till Wednesday. Does anyone know the process for "turning on" the services? I don't fancy waiting until Wednesday!!

It's not really something you can DIY

Cable in your house goes somewhere, it's plugged into their network (under a manhole, in a cabinet, on the roof of someone's house, in a comms room etc)

Don't know how it works these days, but when i moved in to my house all upc had done was disconnected the cable via a straight through connector in the small white box on the outside gable wall of the house. have you looked in there. you can just join that together if that's where it's disconnected. (if you're lucky)

You could try to hack into their provisioning system to enable the service. Then you could hack into their billing system to initiate your contract. While you are in there make sure you 'up' your viewing options to make it worth your while.

Last place I live I just connected the wires up in the comms room and it all worked. I am on contracr with them. My device will work in anywhere that had UPC I have brought my modem from place to place before. I just need to connect it to this place is all.

The connection on the roof is disconnected at the splitter and my neighbours is plugged in. I suspect this is the issue

If your modem is still active on their provisioning system then all you have to do is reconnect your cable to the drop. Its usually a white box that can be opened with a pliers.

That's the one. Its up on the roof. SO will just wait fro them to come out. Need to get some extra long cables off them also
