    This is just plain crazy:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/221357006206?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

There is not a hope in hell that a game is worth the bones of 100K.

This has got me thinking. What is the most you have paid for a single game \ hardware unit?

Besides the x-arcade dual controller, I reckon next in line was my boxed mint condition atari 2600 for 80 euro.... how about ye?

It's fairly mental alright. Especially for something with a torn label! Boggles the mind really. The things you could spend that on instead!

I bid $99,202 once for a game, what was I thinking....

I'm guessing they're fake bids at this stage!

As for most expensive retro thing I've bought, I think it was the Gamecube NR reader for €200.

Yeah, one of those. I wouldn't say it's worth $1,200 though, unless there's something very interesting on those discs, but they appear to be blank. Maybe $400-600. Mine's not boxed but came with 5 blank NR discs and 15 or so with different builds of different games on them.

I hope they are fake bids otherwise retro games have gotten really out of control price wise. I think a mint copy of that is only worth about 5-10K with the gold cart being 40K.

found an episode of Pawn Stars where Pat The Nes Punk tried to sell mint copies of both the standard and gold carts.
He was asking 35k, the shop's expert valued the standardat 5-8k and the gold at 20-22k, and Chumlee offered 15k for both.

Also, regardless of whether they are fake or not, it's still going to drive up prices in general. People are going to hear about "old Nintendo games selling for $100,000" and think they have a fortune.

Muresan, the seller is a member of Nintendoage and he has a thread about the sale there .
The highest bidder already jumped out and told him his 2 year old made the bid although he also bid early in the sale .

The cart is worth about $ 6000,- on a good day so Ebay trolls probably thought it was a scam and had a good day with him .
Best for him is to bin it as normal auctions are impossible like this .

About 4 new sellers have put their carts on Ebay now to ride the hype :pac:

Bookmart and Gamesexchange are claiming, on Facebook, that they sold it and encouraging fortune hunters to come in store and view their riches!
    Erm, don't think so

Well everyone on NA seriously collecting Nintendo already knew Muresan was the owner as there's only one with that label and Mario written on it .

Most I paid for one game was €175 for a boxed Earthbound and the most I paid in one go was €600 for a neo geo aes and a bunch of games including aes stuff, boxed Snes stuff and a few Megadrive stuff.
Prices hopefully will crash soon but I was in the Rage the other day and was despairing at their boxed Snes + n64 prices. The go fiction of said games were only ok but looking for nearly €160 for conkers. Fine if it was mint but it's not.
Not bashing them but just the market in general. A retro store in Calagary that I was in was looking for $400 for Mwrio Rpg.
    It's all gone mad Ted.

I paid stupid, stupid money for my Nuon, now in the hands of Alphaeagle.
It was well worth it though, all for one game, Tempest 3000.
    I want it back!

Ahhhh Tempest 3000, probably singly the best game ever made that I never played on the original hardware....

Yeah, sometimes you have to wonder why people rip off banks when all they have to do is learn to solder...!

Now that the auction has ended, check out the bid retraction summary.

    http://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&_trksid=p2047675.l2565&rt=nc&item=221357006206

More info about cancelled bids. How the seller didn't automatically realize something was up is blind wishful thinking.
