Every time I pick up the post or read timeform comments all I seem to see is "connections can ready one 1st time out" or "connections do very well in bumpers- shortlisted"

But the stats are not that impressive ever since he exploded onto the scene in 2012 when he had moyle park. I just cant get around how he has such a good reputation for bumper winners. Yard form has plummeted and people appear to be living off his old exploits. Maybe the yard has a virus or the horses are not as good as he had, but I just cant see the reason for the big reputation.

    2012
National Hunt Flat 18 Runs 6 Wins 4 Places 33.33% strike rate

    2013
National Hunt Flat 31 Runs 1 Win 6 Places 3.23% strike rate

    2014
National Hunt Flat 4 Runs 0 Wins 1 Place (so far)

Yet again a big plunge on his bumper horse and it only finished 7th.

    sometimes gamble astonishes me.

I was talking with john halley before racing yesterday. for those that do not know, harry Kelly is salaried by john halley.

john said harrys one yesterday and his own horse in the same bumper had small each way chances, they were doing their best as a shop window to selling. they finished alongside each other.

he told me that the one today was moderate. I held all of 50 quid on the book in course cash bets, at the off I had to go onto the machine to take 400 out of it at 11/2.

harry does have one very nice unraced bumper horse owned by a gentleman in the care of nama. this bumper horse won a schooling bumper very impressively at thurles last week. my suspicion is that the smart alecs heard about that horse, saw the donkey that ran today was in a leopardstown bumper and guessed that it was the schooling bumper winner. a case of putting 2 and 4 together and coming up with 4.

I will confirm the quality horse on the day it runs, it would be the wrong thing to post a name in advance.

To be fair to the 2 horses that were plunged they both look ok enough. Railway Rule was only beaten a couple of lengths in the end and I though Kilburry travelled up very nicely to a point before fading tamely.

Neither screamed as being the sort of horse to win on debut on pedigree so I left them well alone.
