As the title says I was wondering how to check if a service person who claims to be OFTEC certified is in fact certified?

I've checked the competant persons register but this particular person is not showing up on it. I am not sure if everyone has to appear on this registrar or not.

    Any help is appreciated.

The individual persons are not listed on the oftec site just the company name.
You could contact oftec to check you could ask the for their tech reg no or their ID card.
What makes you think that you need to check this

To update on this, Robbie says I should contact OFTEC. Thanks for the advice, consider this question resolved.

Devil is in the detail, he claims to be Oftec certified (not registered!)

You can undertake Oftec training and obtain certification, technically you'd be something like "ERS' or "Blueflame' certified as these are names of the certification bodies dealing with Ireland. But the certification is Oft101, 105e & 600a

Once someone holds this certification, then they may or may not register as an Oftec REGISTERED technician, they wouldn't have any more experience, but just be assessed by Oftec once every 5 years or so. Either person would be seen as 'competent' in the eyes of the law, as in Ireland (or UK) there is no requirement to be registered.

If he claims to be certified, you could request to see his cert? (no other real path for you to check)
If he's registered you should be able to find him on the Oftec.org website technician search engine
