Lords procedure for anal fissure

Have suffered with a fissure for over a year :( and finally got referred to surgeon last week. I have been booked in for a Lords procedure in two weeks (stretching) and apparently I have hemorrhoids too ( I think they must be internal) so was told those will be sorted at the same time.

I have been reading horror stories on the web about this stretching - mainly incontinence- and I know the recovery is not pleasant. When I mentioned the possibility of soiling ( there is no to nice way to put it ) the consultant shook his head and told me not to worry.

I am worried and I would like to hear from anyone that has had this procedure done and their experience of it.

I have discussed with my GP and am not looking for advice of any sort, just other peoples experience of it. Obviously there are none.
