    Hi,

currently have a 2005 1.6 petrol Corolla Verso and looking to change back to a Saloon. Motor tax rate is €514 per year

Have my eye on a 2010 Avensis 1.6 petrol. The tax rate is €390

Anyone know what the fuel consumption would be like between the 2 ? or think of any advantages/disadvantages ?

    cheers

The difference will be significant - around 20-25% based on my experience driving them from work back in the day.
The only disadvantages you'll have is the money spent on changing up and the reduced practicality of the saloon body.

    Thanks Colm
Was hoping that you would see this post, thought you were a Toyota guy from years back !
Have 2 kids and we are at a stage that we are not using as much buggy gear etc,but the avensis boot it still deep/big enough to carry enough "stuff".....I'm hoping !
Think the avensis would be more economical, less tax,and not as heavy on the road etc still searching fir comparison sites etc

The dual VVTi engine in the current generation Avensis is more economical than the older VVTi unit found in the Verso.

You won't find much I'm afraid. The 1.6 isn't as common outside Ireland.
