Hi, I noticed today that the front plate of my car is missing.
What do I have to do? Do I have to report it to Garda?
Can I drive anyway? The one in the back is present.
How to get a new plate and how much it will cost?

    Thanks

Technically not legal to drive without it.

    Just order a new one:
    http://www.irishnumberplates.ie/

    Looks like it'll cost €13.50.

Most dealers can get one done up for you too.

The authorities only issue the actual numbers, they don't print up the numberplates like passports. So you can get a new plate from anywhere provided that it fits the legal specs.

    Halfords will make them.

If you suspect foul play report it to Gardai I suppose. Is it just the plate or the holder too (could it have fallen off?)
Halfords or most local motor factors will print a new plate for cheap-ish.

If your first gut feeling was that someone stole it fer say, to make a hit or the like, report it though..

edit: I cant believe i sat 3min on that sentence..on the positive side: damn how lucky i am with this girl singing beside me.<<<<<<<< ;)

Micksgarage do them for 6.95 as long as you don't mind having their logo on the bottom of the plate.
I don't mind but my hacksaw had an issue with it....

Cut open a cereal box and write out a temporary plate to add to the front bumper, will do you getting from A to B to get your new plate, will be like driving around during the 80's, add the IRL for extra kudos :D

Definitely report it to the Gardaì. For the sake of a couple of minutes in the Garda station it could save a lot of hassle down the line.

Then when you order your new plate you'll find out that it's too easy in this country to get plates made up.

why would you report a missing number plate to the Gardai? If i was looking to clone a reg the last thing i would do it rob the plates from the car i am cloning lol.

You'd imagine they'd rob the back one too I suppose.

    Some people aren't that intelligent.

Normally I think they rob plates and tax/nct disc if they're gonna clone a car.

Had both front and back plates taken off my car two years ago in Blessington when car was parked on roadside because of snow. Lo and behold scumbags spent that same night driving up and down the M50 through the eflow :X
