Anyone have any experience working for Ryanair in their Dublin HQ? I know they're in the process of a big revamp and have moved to new offices and am thinking of applying for some of their new IT jobs but can't find out much about the working environment / benefits online.

They don't list any salary range and i'm curious what their definition of a 'competitive salary' is for their new IT / Digital Media roles and what benefits it may include i.e. canteen, travel expenses, parking, holidays etc...

Knowing Ryanair, I'm going to say bottom of the barrel wages and little to no benefits.

From what I've heard, they're doing the opposite and trying to build a stable team. It's only rumors so far, I guess we'll have to wait and see (or get jobs there :-))

Your looking at a company which spends its entire time focusing on removing cost and then you move into the one role in Irish companys thats viewed as a pure cost.

    Quite the opposite.

How do they compare to other airlines?

Will there be "web stars" wages?

A pilot buddy of mine said they pay better than most european carriers, but not as good as the middle eastern ones (probably when taking tax into account).

Most of them are contractors, so you've got to factor pensions and such in comparing.

Any way they don't list salaries on their advertisement. So Who knows.

There was a piece in the times today about looking for people with web skills. There is an open day on 8th Feb, its a Saturday.

Roles they're recruiting for include "web developers, designers, analysts, software engineers, SEO and content, CRM and email specialists to transform its website and design a new mobile app".

I wonder will they be paying salaries in line with their low fares?

    See link here.

Without their IT systems, they wouldn't have an income. They recognise that, and invest accordingly, including in its IT personnel.

Know a couple of people who worked for them in Admin a while back..

Apparently they pay fairly well and treat you fairly well as long as you work hard and dont act the xillob.

Mind you looking at the roles on offer I'd be wary that would be short term roles to get their UX sorted out ....
Best of luck to anyone applying..

Really? You sure about that? Aren't Ryanair famous for having paid students something in the range of €20,000 to do their first website. Professional companies quoted them many multiples of that.

Believe me, I know people who have worked in the head office and it is not a company you want to work for. I am a web developer and wouldn't go anywhere near them.

Good question. Received an email to attend. I'm going out of share curiosity. If I'm successful in obtaining a role, I'll take it if the price is right. The event is this Saturday, so anyone who applied, I'd suggest you keep an eye out in case it's delivered to a different folder.

Can people who go report back here on what it's like. I'm not looking to move but would be interesting to know more about them.

None of them seem to get involved in the Dublin tech community.

I sent in an application for the Open Day and no response, so I probably didn't make the cut.
But you would think that they would be professional and reply to all applications with either "Good" or "Bad" news :(
I was very interested to go out and take a look at this open day.
Anyone who does get to go, please let us all know what it was like and if you'd recommend applying for a role there.

    Thanks.

Was at the Open Day. The building itself is quite large and well located. The building is well kitted out also, going for a Google type feel. It has a games room, canteen and the odd attraction within the building to grab ones attention.

As for Michael O' Leary himself, he actually has quite the sense of humour. There aim is a site redesign and mobile apps with a focus on UX and social content (think of trip advisor). Can't say what benefits and salary are on offer, but I can imagine it will be some what decent given the quality of people they're looking for.

So is anyone in here actually working for them in the Dublin Office?

Going for an interview with them on Friday for a middle management job - did anyone get one of these IT jobs and get into the office in Airside?

I'd be interested to hear what it's like in this office, especially sinced the Ch4 documentary described the head office at the airport to a snake pit. My hope is that the Airside office is not at all like that...?
