Google Chrome glitch??

Just yesterday I noticed on the new tab that the (username)+, gmail, and apps buttons were missing so I'm just seeing a new tab page with the search engine and the 8 boxes. Is this a chrome update or is this a glitch because those option in the corner were handy.

How do I get them back ??

The New Page tab will always open to the Most Visited by default. The only way to change that is to install an extension, New tab Redirect, from the gallery... https://chrome.google.com/webstore/search-extensions/Replace%20New%20Tab%20Page?hl=en-US

It's not a glitch, it's a feature.
There is now an apps button instead

No, that's not the most recent upgrade but it took me until yesterday to figure out it wasn't a glitch. There's a new 'upgrade' but it seems a little backward... I liked it better with the stuff in the corner
