Job Offer but Waiting on Another Interview

    Hi everyone,

So I interviewed for Company A at the beginning of December for a job that starts in July. I had nothing else on the table, I accepted over email but have not signed a contract. A couple weeks ago (mid-January) I get offered an interview with Company B, a job which I REALLY want. But my interview is not for another 2 weeks (start of Feb) -- how do I manage Company A who are asking why I haven't sent the contract yet? (Understandable -- it's been a long time). I already said I would take the job, so I cannot ask for more time to think it over. But I cannot say I don't want the job, as I might not get the job with Company B. I don't want to sign the contract for Company A until I know for sure about Company B. HELP??

    Thanks

Just sign the contract and tell them if you get job b.... its not a big deal

Sign the contract. You may not get job with company B.

If you get the job, you have plenty of time to tell company A u will not be starting. July is months away - and I doubt the notice period is any longer than 1 month.

You could sign the contract for the job you have been offered. The notice period might be only a week or two.
Hold out for the job you want. Better to cover yourself than end up with no job come the summer.

I know its not the most ethically correct thing to do, but I agree with the other posters here, sign the contract and if you get the job you prefer, just say you don't want the job anymore with company A.

They won't be too pleased and you'll never get a job there in the future, but if company B is what you want, that's how I would do it.
