58/60mm carbon clincher wheel recommendations

I'm looking to get a new set of wheels for my Turas RR1.0 but haven't a clue what to get! Apart from getting myself a racing license this year, it's nearing the time to upgrade the bike again

I'd like a set of 58/60mm carbon clinchers and have about €1500 to spend.

What would people recommend?

Well it's not just because I'm going racing that I want new wheels, I just want new wheels goddammit

I'll use my current wheels during winter and use the new ones when the weather/roads get a bit better/safer.

I rode a set of detec tubulars a friend have me and for the money they were savage. They also do a clincher version for under a grand.

Can get a set of Zipp 60 for a little over 1k.

Reading the Tour Magazine Tyre Tests, the clinchers actually had lower rolling resistance than the tubular tyres. Clinchers are a really good option now-a-days for racing.

Thanks lads. Currently looking at a set of FFWD F6Rs with DTS 240S hubs. Anyone have any experience with FFWD wheels?

Ffwd with red decals look the business on these frames.

I had looked at those alright. So many people have them..must be a good sign! Can't really go wrong with Mavics anyway.

Thats from the Turas facebook page, they could be different ffwd's but the decals are all similar

Yep I've a set of F6R and F4Rs, both with FFWD hubs. The wheels are rigid and I think they look great on the Pinarello.

That they do. There's something about the red/white/black colour scheme.

This is my own bike at the moment, so I think they'd look well on it!

I'd go for some 50mm deep 24mm wide Gigantex carbon clinchers from Wheelsmith.

I reckon 60mm is probably too punishing ride-wise for Irish roads, and they tend to be heavy.

You could get some nice Shimano C24-CL with the rest of the budget. Or a powermeter. Or whatever.

Wouldn't mind one of them frames, look v well and I am sure a good few euro cheaper!

Dont buy a skoda(China wheels) buy a volkswagon(ffwd) or an audi(zipp) even though they all have exactly the same engine/gearbox/front axle and electrics(rims)

I can imagine. Sounds good in principle but they will probably add another 30% to the price in order to do it. Bad idea if that is the case.

Nah, I don't think so. It's a different shape frame...compare the pic of mine on the last page to the image of the geometry on the ad.

he told me so, he said it was taiwan and i had the turas rr2.0 and it is identical in every way - the paint!

No it's not. There isn't a kink in the down tube like there is in the RR2.0.
