AMD FX series issue?

So, I'm building my first PC and I'm planning on getting the AMD FX-6350. However, there's an issue with some boards whereby the BIOS needs an update which is only achieveable through flashback or use of an old CPU to get into the BIOS.
I'd really like a mobo that will just work with it right out of the box. Any suggestions?

I used Gigabyte 970A-UD3 and it worked, even though it said it could need an updated bios

    Where did you order from?

HWVS but it was made unavailable like a week later. You can access bios if they're outdated iirc

I'm not very good with software, and besides, don't I need an older CPU in order to access the BIOS?

This should work. Bit more expensive though

How can you tell it'll work?

It's only 970 chipset boards that can need a BIOs update.

I'm pretty sure that is. Seen it in a few builds.

I was looking at them recently and found various forum posts suggesting that some of them needed a BIOS upgrade to work with newer FX chips. They were old posts to be fair, so it's likely that any ones you buy now have shipped with the newer BIOS, but there's still a small chance of older ones still floating around distribution channels.

The CPU will work whether or not you update the BIOS, it just won't recognize the CPU name and might not use all the CPU cores. It will still work, and once you get the PC up and running you can then update the BIOS and it will then recognize it and you will have all the functionality of it. That or, they might already be up to date enough for all to work fine without the need to update again.

    Thanks for confirming

Although this is usually the behavior of most boards, there was a defiinately a problem with some bulldozer era AM3+ boards when Piledriver first came out where they simply wouldn't boot with the new chips installed.

No newer revisions of any of these boards should have this problem, it's possible but fairly unlikely that these are still floating around retail channels as Piledriver is out almost a year and a half now. I'd be surprised if there were any still floating about from any of the major retailers at least, who would turn over stock pretty quickly.
