I have a 3 yr old Grande megane. Drove to work yesterday fine no issues. Just as I was parking found I was unable to select 1st 3rd and 4th gears. Had to get car towed to garage who will look at it Monday.
Not a clutch issue! Would a gearbox fail after 3 years 57k on Speedo?

It's possible but unusual. Is the car still under warranty? Renault were offering longer warranties in recent years.

I think the standard warranty was 3 years with the option since 2010 to purchase extended cover up to 5 years. The standard warranty was increased to 5 years unlimited warranty from 1st March 2013.
Anyway it could be something as simple as a linkage problem.

    Might be a linkage issue.

Ever tried to move up the hill from 2nd gear - some cars can, some can't.
Not a pleasure to drive being limited to 2nd and 5th, i would rather tow it, too.

Hopefully you will. Shows the value of these long warranties really.

Yes would have to be covered.

Definitely a good idea to extend warranty with a French car.

Not a bother, give it enough throttle even a non turbo oul diesel I`d drive in 2nd anywhere all day long. :p

Just picked up and driven two cars this week, both with dodgy clutch to say the least. Saved around 250quid..;)

Another positive from Renault, fair play, make sure and tell all your friends about the GOOD experience you've received. Renault bashing is all too common on this forum...

3 Weeks and 3 days later still waiting to get my car back. Renault only authorised a repair but after Renault France sending over the wrong parts twice the Garage got onto them and they are now giving me a new gearbox which I am much happier with than a repair.

While it has been a long winded affair the Garage had given me free use of a nice 132 Courtesy car.

Hoping to get me car back tomorrow !

PS Was Told it was a spring on the 1st Gear synchromesh that went but after they repaired that 1 other gear was not available!

Even though they consistently do better than the germans in reliability surveys?

Try and get VW to do you a 7 year warrenty. They won't - for any money.
