Paying adult price for a child

I was enquiring earlier today about the cost of bringing my child and myself and my disabled sister on a pilgrimage to Lourdes. My sister would be staying in the hospital so is facilitated there.

However when I enquired about the price to bring my eight year old daughter the company Joe Walsh Tours tell me that it is full price for a child. If I was sharing with another adult there would be a small discount.

When I said it was a rip off I was told in a condescending manner that they not that expensive. To be honest I think this is totally absurd there is no justification for charging full price for a child. Can a tour company actually do this?

Pretty normal to pay full price or something close to it for children over 2 years. The justification may be that an 8 year old child occupies the same seat a full fare paying adult does. It might be a lot of things but it is not a rip off.

Why should it cost less to bring an 8 year old child? Where does the tour operator save money because it's an 8 year old rather than an adult?

If this means that if you are sharing with a child there is no discount, but if sharing with an adult there is a discount, then it is odd. If this means that if 2 adults share with a child there is a small discount then that is reasonable as there would be 3 people in a room. There is no reason that a child should pay less than a adult, except they might eat less, they also occupy a bus seat, airplane seat etc.
