.17 hornet.

hi all! first time poster here, but have been following the forums for awhile. I was just wondering has the .17 hornet arrived in Ireland yet? I have a .22 hornet for a good few years and would be interested in this flatter shooting calibre. The main use is fox shooting. If it is a case that the .17 hornet wont be around for a while yet I would be also thinking about a .223 rifle. Are .223's hard to licence in the south tipp area?

Mate go for the 223 or 204 , ammo is ready available and good choice of makes and model firearms

I've never used a 204 but everyone I hear of that has one loves them .

223 is most popular so u will have bigger choice in rifles and ammo

Which one would be more easier to get a licence for or would they be much the same in that regard? I read on here before that some lads found it hard to get a licence for a .223

Both are classed as 20 Cal so it is the same on the licence app,I traded a 223 for a 204 never looked back.It is a fabulous caliber.Incredibly accurate ,punches well above its weight.

It should be a simple sub from ur hornet !
Ur not going into a deer caliber

thanks for the advice. I just need some gun dealer to take in a cz .22 hornet now for one of the above rifles. Are standard .223 or .204 rifles expensive?
something like cz again would be fine.

Answer to your question is go to this chap. He as them I believe and the ammo but you will have to go up north as republic of Ireland is always behind times as usual. Box of 25 is 25euro I think, so a euro each I think.

I got my .22 hornet off him. He has a good selection of rifles. He usually has a stand at the moire game fair in the summer if thats any handier.
