not sure what kind of cycling you do or how seriously you take it but i recently replaced the kendas that came on my carrera with two of these http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/ie/en/vittoria-zaffiro-road-bike-tyre/rp-prod31769 and i cant fault them at all. Plenty of grip in the wet, the pair delivered for €18, for a cyclist who doesnt race I cannot fault them so far, i know plenty might turn their noses up at them and some may say purely for that money they must be crap but ive had no complaints at all since fitting them.

Vittoria Rubino Pro. Excellent grip, low rolling resistance coupled with long thread life and they're reasonably light and easy to fit/remove.

Continental GP4000S. Note that the "S" is a model designation - the "GP4000" are a different tyre.

I find 25mm more comfortable than 23mm without any noticable difference in rolling resistance.
