what exactly should I expect? Never had a medical before - and it's a desk job. I am overweight - which I am working on, but can't think what else would be a problem

Hey I did one a few months ago!! They basically ask you to do a urine sample, a blowing test, weight, ask you to do a simple exercise, had the doctor checked my back! My friend did one too and she is obese and passed!! It isn't that serious at all!! Best of luck and congrats on the job!!:)

It completely depends on the medical.

Some are a joke, some are extensive.

For most standard work, its really just an assessment to say you are fit to work, and they will try and pick up on issues in the medical and inform you such as blood pressure etc.

Usually things like blood pressure problems etc are noted but to my knowledge the employer is just told your fit to work, or your not.

However if you were to have a medical issue on site, I would imagine that this medical could be used to prove you had pre-existing conditions before starting work there etc.
