If you're stuck with CRC and don't want to push the boat out cost wise . the Cube ams 110 looks good.
The ghost 5700 does look quite nice.

Although if you're not stuck with CRC
the Canyon AL 7.0 might be a good choice. http://www.canyon.com/_en/mountainbikes/bike.html?b=3281#tab-reiter2

You should also try some of the LBS in dublin.
I was pleasantly surprised last year when I went to buy a new MTB. I had always bought either used or online but a chance phonecall to a shop here in Dublin turned into a brilliant deal for me.

One thing I'd say is try and buy a bike with the best fork you can afford.

Not stuck with CRC but find them the best for FS bikes in that kind of price range? plus with an extra 10% off etc..

I am stuck with a set list of bike shops in Ireland although its quite extensive..at the same time not sure exactly how much im gonna use her..but the CUBE is defo worth the extra over the 5100 ye reckon? is the fork that much better? appreciate the reply...really dont know much about MTBs at all..its been a long time since I was into them..

    Cheers

a lot of the specs are comparable on the 2 , but the cube is lighter , better fork , nicer finishing kit(bars ,stem etc.)

but that canyon I linked to if you're able to purchase from them Is a very nice bike. It's a current model with 27.5" wheels. same fork as the cube , similar components. better quality wheelset. rear shock is better and i think it Looks better than either. (also comes with a shock pump and a torque wrench which are a nice little addition)

That's the one i'd go for unless I came across a good deal on a giant maybe.

You'd be waiting at least a month for the Canyon bike according to the availability info on the linked page.

Worth it though, they're great bikes for the money.

    Thanks for the responses,

It looks like a nice piece of kit..problem is I cant order from them under my works CtW scheme so im saving a chunk on the others which I have to take into account.

Honestly if I felt the 5100 was enough I think id be happy enough with it but when you look at individual parts and plug them into google or ebay for price comparisons seems there is a big big diff. Seems the extra bit spent now something something something...

I'd do a bit more shopping around, while CRC can be great for parts and accessories I just find there bike selection not that great and you might pick up something new old stock in one of the LBS's around ireland.

Shame not that many of them have a decent web presence.

I don't know if Sean duff cycles in santry is on your list but I thought I saw some discounts on their Giant MTB's recently. They're not a big seller of MTB's so sometimes have a bit of stock lying around.

Bike Rack in cabinteely is another good shop(where I got my bike last year , and got an amazing deal off them.)

cycle inn and cycle superstore also have good selection of MTB.
    hope this helps

    Ye fair enough.

A mate of mine actually said they had a few ghosts in there at the moment and I was planning on going in to sit down on a few to size them.

Maybe ill head in and see what they can do for me..

    Cheers
