RTE and IFJ saying 50 jobs likely to go at Kepak Hacketstown. Surprised it lasted this long to be honest...

What sheep factories will that leave in the area, Camolin and Kildare?

Only killing a couple of days a week this long time.Blaming a shortage/scarcity of lambs ie not getting enough to justify killing 4 or 5 days a week.

That said anytime I was there recently(4 times since Christmas) the lairage and the paddocks were full. The last night I brought lambs they had an artic load just landed from Donegal.

They killed only 1.5 days this week. Before christmas when they should have been flat out they were only killing 2.5 days a week.

ICM must be rubbing their hands, it will not be good news for us in the south east

Kepack hacketstown have had loads of lambs coming in at night from far flung corners of the country ,never seemed all that bothered about nice local lambs that had only spent less than an hour in transit .Sorry for the workers a bad start to 2014. Does anyone know how long since Duffy's began killing on that site

often wondered what kind of money those sheep from kerry would come into, if a local brought in similar they would have run them, Duffys had a pig factory there I think but for how long I don't know,

See its been confirmed on IFJ, closing 6th March. Very disappointing for all involved, employees and farmers

Never noticed that on the paper. What page was it on?
    It was kept quiet.

Disaster for sector in South East. Camolin ICM are a bad shower. Dept of ag were giving kepak hacketstown a lot of hassle. With back handlers and prompting from ICM I would imagine. The same tactics that were used to close all the small butcher killing facilities around the country

Have you proof to back that up?

I stress this is my opinion and the opinion of many people in the sector that I talk to. Monopolies and dynasties are rarely built on high morals or fair play. My opinion and no pictures or evidence to display my lord.

Yeah, they were assembling hogget's there and transporting them to Athleague. Some one told me they had two lorry load the last day.

No bother for sheep this time of year but wouldn't fancy sending lamb's in May or June when they are just off the ewe's.Couldn't imagine the kill out rate would be as good between waiting in the lairage, transport that distance and maybe another wait to be killed.
