    Hey everyone

Got a quote today for tiling an en-suite walls and floors, area of 17 metres (20 yards) for labour only it was 500 euro, about 2 days work max, involves a good bit of cutting especially on the floor.

Anyone know if this represents good value?

    Any feedback welcome.

    Tks

That seems about right most tilers that I know are about 25 to 30 per sq yard .Some tilers may also have a premium charge for working with mosaic or marble, but that depends on the tiler.

I am starting to put in a disabled bathroom for my elderly mum & tiler is charging €720 labour.
27sqyds plus border plus tanking kit plus sloped floor for shower.

So €500 is probably about right.

its unlikely to be finished in 2 days with floor and wall tiling and grouting with drying/working times.
But even just allowing 2 days
    500 less vat is 440
    220 a day
    27.50 a hour
    less
    travel/insurance costs
    Tools and equipment
    and of the TAX MAN
    Not excessive for a professional

So you reckon its ok for the Government,Insurance companies,Fuel merchants,Tool hire companies,Doe centres etc etc to charge celtic tiger prices but if a trained professional who has to pay for these and try stay in business then its extortion

My service price had never increased. I charge what I charged years ago but I have absorbed every single suppliers price increase, insurance increase, USC, levies, healthcare increases, & now DOE is gone upto €111 each van every year. Road tax used to €180, now €333 per van.
So in answer to the OP, €500, to me, seems a decent price.

Or a fellow gas man told me of a customer who was shocked at a price he gave her cause her painter would work for 100 a day!

I got my kitchen floor tiled in the large tiles and price was 400€ for 19sqm. In the end it took him 3 days as the floor was very uneven so it was a very good price and I felt guilty paying that little but the levelling stuff alone cost nearly 350€.
