When I have Gin, i typically have it with loads of ice, a big Lemon segment and topped of with tonic water.

A mate of mine said I forgot the Lime.

Has anyone every tried Gin and tonic with Lemon and Lime segments in it?

If so is it any nicer than the traditional way.

    Cheers.

I will try it this evening.

Lime wedges rather than lemon wedges improve G&T by about a million percent.

I've become partial to throwing in a few juniper berries as well. Its how they serve it in my favourite Gin bar in the UK. Also in a nice big almost fishbowl glass.

In my head there is no point in just having the lime wedge float, pick it out, squeeze it, rim the glass and drop it in. It'll mellow the harsh of the gin while enhancing so many flavours.

Lime is much better than lemon, in my opinion. A slice of cucumber also goes well.

Also, make sure to buy a really nice tonic like Fever Tree.

Definately use limes rather than lemons, and squeeze it into and rim the glass as said above.

Don't use gin with an alcohol strength of less than 40%.

My preference in Ireland is Tanqueray, but outside of Ireland all gin's seem to be much higher percentages, and much better as a result.

Lime in gin beats lemon any day, however I have lately switched from G&T to gin & bitter lemon as a mixer, it is so refreshing!

As mentioned above, Hendricks gin (infused with rose petals) is usually served with a slice of cucumber, deliciously different.

Mmm not yet 11am, is it too early for a gin?!

Lime for me, and currently Tanquarey and Bombay Sapphire my favourites, although Hendricks is tasty too.

    Anyone tried Bombay Sapphire East?

Yes tried Bombay Sapphire east in the Gin Palace, it was ok. If you like Gin I would get into the Gin Palace as they now have 3 kinds of Bathtub Gin which is currently one of my favourites and they have fevertree tonic.

I love Bombay Sapphire too, it's my gin of choice! Find Tanquarey too strong / sharp a taste though personally, someone told me once it's marketed like a man's gin?!

I haven't hard of Bombay Sapphire East though, intrigued...

Bombay East has saffron in it. They also have it in the GP cos I tried it on their taster tray. Good times.

Wow. Do they serve other alcohol as well? I love gin, but can't drink it all night.

Yup! They have a full bar and I "think" some craft beers as well. Highly recommend it.

Lol, I've booked a wee bit of space for my own as well. Free nibbles if you book for 10 or more people so should mop up those extra few drinks for birthday sozzling.

How have I not been there before?! It looks great. Reckon I need to organise a girls' night out soon (once payday rolls around)!

I know, I found out about it here on boards. Took some friends and we tried a few of the sampling trays. 3 gins and a jug of tonic for €10. Took notes on my phone so I don't order the same or can order the ones I liked again.
Loved Geranium Gin and you have to try the Bathtub which they've only recently got in but I've tried in the UK. T'is my favourite.

For anyone looking for a good gin, I'd highly recommend Aldi's "Old Hopking" London Dry Gin. It's only €13.99 a bottle, but it's absolutely stunning.

(they call it "Oliver Cromwell" in the UK but changed the name over here for some reason ;))

Yeah it's pretty good, but it only compares to 'ordinary' gins IMO, like Gordon's or CDC, it's not nearly as smooth as fancier gins like Tanquarey or Hendricks etc..

But as an ordinary gin it's great value! Good kick in it too.

I cracked open my bottle of Gordon's Cucumber gin last night, very very tasty, and very cheap compared to Hendricks, got it for under £20 sterling on Amazon. Think I'm gonna go for Tanquarey Malacca soon, very pricey though......

Have tried this and is very nice, but I found it very expensive.

Had Gin with Lime and Lemon after. I found it to be pretty nice. May try those berries next time whoever said that.
