Golden Friday

Golden Friday means Gold Falcon day and luckily, BetVictor are spoiling us with generous odds of 11/2 as compared with the miserable 4/1 that the other bookies are currently offering. Not as high as I would have hoped following on Gold Falcon's exploits last week when it was as high as 40/1, but with the booking of Pat Smullen for today, it does looks like today is the day for the horse to win. For those of you wondering what the hell I am talking about, if you check last Friday's thread, it was remarked that Gold Falcon was racing off an incredibly low mark. Needless to say, despite missing the break, it still managed to finish like a train in third place. Despite that effort (it should have won), the handicapper has seen fit to raise it by just a single pound. Considering the mediocre opposition that's out today, surely Gold Falcon is a good thing if it can replicate the kind of form it showed last week.

    Time and track

    18:45 Dundalk

11/2 (still available) is 6.5 decimal, could be layed on Betfair max 5.9 so the Betvictor bet is excellent value. Nice spot Francie.

Yeah, I picked up on Gold Falcon last when going through the race cards today. Re-watched last weeks race where he missed the start but still managed a decent 3rd position.

Will have a few bob on it today

Moonbi Creek - moving down the ratings, claimer on board today. Gambled with the 22's in the same race

Put Knockturnal in your watch lists folks, ran very sweetly there and looked a winner before it fell.

Prince Connoisseur is a steamer in the opening maiden at Dundalk tonight. Anyone know anything about the trainer, J J Feane?

Im pretty sure he use to be one of the top men for Moyglare Stud. Its that man or his son that is down as trainer.

    7.00 at Wolverhampton.

Hunting Ground for Mark Johnston was as big as 8/1 last night when the betting opened now only as big as 6/4. Wont be backing at that price but interesting to see how he gets on.

Just caught the end of that race in Donny on my lunch. That was mightily impressive from pearl castle.

    Beware the false gambles lads.
The bookies have to recoup the Curley losses.

Had a play on victor hewgo in the next novice chase this morning. Price is plenty short enough now.
Will be hard for the top 2 to carry the penalties is what I was hoping.

Did it nicely. Up to something fell into a serious hole in the last 2f definitely didn't stay. Dreamy George looks an out and out stayer I would actually give him a chance in the 4miler if I was involved in him. Doubt the rest are up to much and I expect the winner is probably just a decent handicapper..

It must be his son, according to the stats, this lad is just starting out as an owner/trainer.

Had 2 quid on Edamane in that race. Seems to have nice breeding, trainer has some useful form here with this type of horse and at 12/1 it's a big price for what looks a 3 horse race.

Yeah, good performance - albeit receiving a lot of weight. Really pulled away from the older horses in the last furlong. 25/1 for The Triumph looks like a generous price, if that was his target.

It was 5/6 when I posted this (from 9/4 earlier) and it's 1/6 now! Money is even pouring in on the exchanges now.

    2nd favourite NR - that's why.

I got stuck into GF last week (see my previous post, i seen him win a schooling races in DD days before and he came from last to first). TBH is is very short. Missing the start helped him the last day as he traveled really well and the slow early pace also helped. He is a horse that could decide not to put it in tonight. I hope he wins but i wont be backing him Instead I backed Kalann 9.15 DD, another horse that won a schooling race in DD last week. On that occasion Andrew lynch rode him. He carried alot more weight than most of the others he had 8L to make up on an 8 1/2 stone rival and caught him before line (Lynch was not harsh on him, he looked terrific ....harty had him in great condition)

If you look closely at his flat form he has a big swing in weights with the Fav.
I gladly took some 12/1 and can see he was into 7s

Gordon doesn't often book Joey, wouldve liked to see a few bob for Santos before backing it. One bet for me tonight, Toretto in the 8.45. Ran a race full of promise behind the very well handicapped Habesh. He was very well backed that night, and beaten around 5 lengths. The piece of form which keeps him in my notebook is his second to Star Power, who has gone on to beat Carvelas in a well contested race off 72. Certain theres a race in him, and he may well be the pace angle, also. 2 pt EW at 7s.
