i'm unsure as to whether i need to give my new employer a p45 as my last p45 is dated 2010.

I was in the same position last June, and you only require a P45 if you had worked somewhere else in the same year. So, no a P45 is not required for you.

give your new employer your PPS number. Then get the company registered number from new employer and ring revenue and ask that you are registered with the new employer. This is quicker and will save you going on emergency tax.

A P45 is only valid for the year that it is issued in.

You shouldn't be put on emergency tax or anything like that as it should get set up very quickly. if you want to be put at ease give your local revenue office a call and they wil tell you what needs to be done, good luck with your course and job by the way.

ya do ring Revenue cos you can't always rely on employers to sort it out unfortunately.

You do need your employers Reg number to give to revenue.

Employers will only act on the cert they get from revenue
