SEO for a faceted search site.. How to handle bots?

Hi, I've been developing a site for a couple of months now and while the end user experience is coming along very nicely, I hate knowing that it won't be robot friendly.

In Drupal speak, I have 8 vocabularies, 5 of which have less than 10 terms but the other 3 are over 50.
The nodes or results will number at around 15,000 I think.. My latest estimate.

My only idea is to create 3 smaller facet pages for the big vocabularies to avoid the near infinite number of result combinations.. Let robots go through them but block them from crawling my homepage. Is this wise? An seo attempt where google can't see my homepage seems very stupid.

If anyone has an idea, help would be appreciated.
