Passenger side rear door will not open. Electric window will not operate on this door either but does on all the other windows . When I try to open it manually from inside the internal door lever just springs back into the locked position . I can hear a loud "clicking" from all the other doors when I operate the remote in the key fob ( put my ear to each door ) but no clicking from the passenger side rear door. Any ideas ?

When I unlock the car using the remote the indicator lights flash but when I lock it no lights flash. It has a double lock system with alarm ( press the lock button twice on the remote )

Check the wiring loom to the door, sounds like no power to the door. Possible someone tried to break into the car by cutting the loom.

Just thinking, when the car is started, does the window button light up the same as the rear ones, think this might be only when car head lights are on. IS the mirror moving via the remote on drivers door? If they are all working then the power should be ok

as old man mondeo said check the main door loom at the front of the door , theres loads of them coming in to us with the wiring looms cut

no window button light on the locked door , all other doors have window button light light , both door mirrors adjust electrically by remote on drivers door

With the button for the window not lighting up, then there is a power issue in getting to the door. You will need to trace this back to find where it is, could be just a loose connection.

appears that theres no current to door but when I pull the open latch inside the door ( its constantly in the locked position ) it springs back into the locked position , is this worked with a vacuum pump or electric switch I wonder ?

Assuming you've checked the relevant fuse (see owner manual/google) Sounds like a problem with the door control module. I think each door has its own module that communicates with the others via CAN. If you can get access to a Ford VCM/IDS tool, you should be able to attempt a communication with that control module, or at least pull a fault code that would isolate the problem. In the mean time, you need to get that door open in order to remove the door card and check 1) the wiring loom behind the rubber boot at the B pillar and 2) the security of the module itself.

Thanks Mr. Waterson for the good information , will follow it up

If I disconnect the battery will I be able to open the door with the lock handle or does it involve removing the door card and get at the internals ? . I have checked the fuse that controls the left rear door and its not blown

cannot remove the door card from inside the locked door as there are two screws securing it behind the pillar and the door needs to be open to gain access to these

Check the fuses first. You may just have rip the door card off in a way not to damage it too much. Maybe remove the back seat, that may give you more room and then fiddle around with the latch to get it open and work from there.
