Brain reset, the outdoors, mountain environment, the buzz of skiing, camaraderie with mates after, wellness.

When skiing is good it is very very fcuking good.

For me it's the perfect holiday cos it's just great fun all round.

Out on the mountain all day just having the buzz with your mates in fantastic settings. Few wind down beers when you're done then back to your accommodation to chill for a bit before heading back out again on the rip. I love heading straight out as soon as I wake up the next morning because for me those first few runs in that cold mountain air is the perfect hangover cure. I went on my first sun holiday in quite a few years last July and I was pretty bored after 4 days. That would never happen when on a snowboarding holiday. If I had to choose between sun or snow it'd be snow every time.

Couldn't put it much better myself. After my first ski trip in '98/99 season' I've been hooked ever since. This year will be my 14th ski trip......morzine for 2nd time.

my first ski trip was when i was 40.
hooked on the bus transfer to the resort!
the clean mountain air ,being active , the awesome vistas.
i like the winter villages and hot chocolate and the afternoon beers and tottys.
learning to ski and challenging myself on the slopes.
eating local produce in a cosy restaurant and more drinks knowing any toxins will be long gone by the end of the 1st run in the morning.
    5 weeks to go :)

Sitting on a beach for a week is shi*.

Also any sport where you can amasse ridiculous amounts of gear is a sport for me.

Being one of the first people on a freshly prepared mountain early in the morning, just me and the mountain :)

    Adrenaline...lots of it !

    why I do it?
Because no matter how much crap I've got going on I've yet to find a holiday or activity that clears the mind as well as a snow trip. That and the feeling of floating in powder.

Best holidays ever IMO... I go every year (sometimes if funds permit we go twice)... rather skiing than sun holidays.

Its way more fun, stunning views, lots of laughs (jaggers) we met some deadly people form all over the world... did i mention its great craic :D

For me its the jumps. The jumps at speed. Doing things a lot of ppl won't even think about.

Its all about going a little bit more extreme than I should each time

And the pow days. Oh god I love powder all over my face!

It's also the fact that it's such a personal experience. It doesn't matter what anyone else is doing on their skis, it's what I do on mine that counts.

You could ski the same run 1000 times and it will never be the same, always an improvement to be made always a new challenge to be found.

i bring a gang of kids from school every year and without a doubt its their best memory of school. Its so different, so relaxing, so full of adrenaline at the same time. All round perfection.

Where do you bring them Teacherhead?! I went on a school ski trip to Interlaaken back in the day, 40 kids via ferry to France & then overland to Switzerland via Paris. To this day I have NO IDEA why the teachers chose that route, lol!! It was a journey and a half, but completely worth it. When I eventually went back to Interlaaken as a 'grown-up' I was blown away by how easy it was to get there, lol!!

Id say it was price that brought them that way.

we go all over, Norway, Austria, Switzerland, and a lot of Italy 5-6 times. Resorts are generally smaller so s bit cheaper than your big tourist Spots.

Yes it was definitely price, but by God no money-saving would be worth that journey again!! One of them must have had a particular affinity for that resort, because even after the crazy overland journey, it was still unbelievably expensive- if we'd flown to a different resort we could have saved so much time and money. I can definitely see how Norway is a good option from a group point of view, only problem is a week-long diet of reindeer, lol!! ;-)
