Upholstery in Dublin

I've got an old swivel chair that I want to upholster. I've rung around a few place and all quote were €200-250 for labour only which is a good bit more than the chair is actually worth.
I heard of a community initiative in Crumlin where they train unemployed people in upholstery and they need pieces to work on. They quoted me €80 which was fantastic but the lady said that the students are not yet advanced enough to tackle the type of chair I have and won't be for several more months.

So anyone got a recommendation for a place where the prices aren't sky-high? Something similar to the operation in Crumlin would be great, or even someone doing it part time from home. I don't mind travelling to Meath or Kildare if it means I can get the job done without breaking the bank to do so.

Upholstery is always going to be expensive as it takes skill and requires good materials.

I got a sofa and and armchair upholstered last year - they were from the 60's and have a lot of sentimental value. They were superficially in rag order (I wouldn't have been able to give them away on adverts for free), but structurally were sound.
Now they are properly upholstered they are breathtaking, and my favourite thing I own.

So they were effectively worthless, now they are priceless!

    I used http://sofaplus.ie/upholstery.htm - perhaps give them a call?

Thanks for the replies lads, I'll check them out. I never knew upholstery could be so pricey but I guess as quaalude said it'll be worth it in the end:)

Do you have details of that community initiative in crumlin ?I am not sure if the centre is still there or not as it is 8 long years.I have four dining table chairs where I need to add seat pads and was wondering if they take up the work.

    Thanks in advance.
