Solid or Engineered window frames?

Currently finalising specs on windows/doors and i have a large sliding door section (6m divided into two - one fixed one sliding). I am getting varying info from suppliers as to whether or not this is possible. Would i be right in saying that an engineered (i.e. laminated frame) would be best suited to this application over and above solid timber (both aluclad frames)? Anyone any experience/issues with large sliders?

    Thanks
    PK

Yes - we have a 5m ope - two fixed two sliders in engineered - little movement and it's a year so far

Fclauson. Could I get a pm as well.
Have got a quote from one crowd in the North, aluclad for a 5.6x2.7 m slider, but I have only the brochure, not the actual window itself.
I have recently saw an aluminium double glazed sliding door, was very heavy to open so has me a bit concerned.
