    Hi guys,
I am looking to get upc into my house. I am renting this property. I was wondering do they still have to bring wires in underground to connect this? I hae recently tried to get eircom in and when they went to try and run the line underground from the manhole the pipe was blocked. Is this going to be the same with upc? I was talking to a upc rep today, he said i will be reciving a signal through a mmds sattillite. If so do they still have to run the lines from the manhole? I don't think he understood what I was trying to say to him. Any suggestions would be great.

MMDS is received through an aerial mounted on the roof with the cable run from there to the TV point, nothing to do with satellite. They will install an aerial like the first or second one in this link - http://www.wrightsaerials.co.uk/aerialphotography/aerialingus/011.shtml. There will be no requirement to run a cable from the manhole.

It's a very basic service and depending on your location an MMDS recorder (PVR) may not be available.

The MMDS service is coming to an end in April 2016.
