Hi thanks for reading I searched as I thought this would have been asked already.

I have a 2lt CRV tax ran out in December due to cost of running it I decided to downgrade and get a 1lt.I just went to declare it off the the road and they told me I must pay them 3 months tax in advance even though it will not be used.

I fuming here to be honest I bought the Jeep on the 31st of August and had to pay the 70 euro for the pleasure of 1 days use of the jeep, now I must pay 200 not to use it.
Its not worth much maybe 1200 euro

What happens if I sell it which is what I do not want to do, but don't have much choice now

The Jeep is genuinely not being used and parked up on private property,

Now I must tax 2 cars

Is there anyway round this and I can declare a car off the road and not pay 200 euro.

I expect some heat for posting this :(

Leave it off the road and do nothing. "Sell" it then to a friend, spouse, sibling etc when you wish to tax it.

I was thinking that but read before that tax office will bill you from last tax date to date of sale.
