Just realised the focus is almost due another service oil+Air filter. It's a 07 focus 1.6tdci 90bhp model. My question is I always use genuine ford filters bought in a ford dealer but was looking on micksgarage and they have a bit of a sale on Mann filters so you get an extra 10 percent off listed price. This means I could get both filter for 22 quid. However are Mann filters good ? As if the ford filters are better I'd rather buy them for sake of 15 quid ish extra. Thanks in advance for the advice.

Edit also does anyone know when the fuel filter interval is I changed it 2 services ago so around 23k km ago I assume its ok for another while.

    air filter

    oil filter

I use the mann air filters anyway and find them grand, and I get them from micksgarage too. Its cheap and reliable. I've got quite a few things from there from parts to general accessories. I'm not well educated in motors or anything but I don't find any noticeable difference in Mann filters vs branded air filters...

I've no clue at all at all regarding oil filters :/

Mann and Mahle are both good filter manufacturers. Or anything made in Germany too.

All this time I never knew I was buying oem spec when getting filters :)

Mann have always served me well I'd be happy to keep using them!

I ordered a new microfilter and air filter from BMW and there's not much difference in the price between them and what they're going for on micksgarage.

Not too much in the differences price wise, mahl and mann are the same company I seen on bmw forums where in some countries Bmw Supply mahl filters and others mann, they are in bmw branded box but the part numbers are the same. Great filters anyway buy them :)

I change the oil and filter every 10,000 miles using full synthetic oil, and the fuel filter every 20,000 mls, but drain the fuel filter to get rid of water on the service that you are not changing it , the drain plug is normally under the filter and as fuel is heavier then water - water if any present should be the first out, a egg cup full of fluid from the filter should do the trick. if changing the fuel filter i would fill the new filter with clean diesel otherwise it will take a long time for the filter housing to fill turning over the engine and you may run down the battery

I know what your saying alright. Although it's not really applicable for the 1.6tdci focus as on my model you buy the filter and housing all in one so it's a bit different and more expensive to replace. But I know what your saying I've serviced cars where you just replace the filter paper/ element. So what your saying makes sense about removing the water and filling with diesel. Here's a link of the type of filter the focus takes just so you know what I'm talking about.

    focus fuel filter

Ah right I've used mister auto before. Ill shop around when changing it next service no real need to do it this service as I said there not that many km on it. There a dear filter alright some of the older focus with that engine used a plastic housing which was cheaper that the metal one. The fuel filter is 93 euro including discount of ford  I know as when I last changed the filter I was stuck for one and couldn't wait for delivery so went to the ford dealer but almost cried having to pay that for it but when your stuck there's not much you can do.
